The Seattle Art Museum is hosting a landmark Picasso exhibit starting on October 8, 2010. The exhibit features works on loan from the Musée National Picasso in Paris, which is currently being renovated. This is the first major Picasso exhibition to ever come to the Pacific Northwest. The last time these particular works were on display in the US was at a show at New York’s Museum of Modern Art in 1980, so Picasso fans are certainly excited about the chance to see these works in person.
The exhibition includes works from every major period in Pablo Picasso’s career, including the Blue Period, Rose Period, Cubist Period and the Classicizing Period. There is a lot to see an learn here, and the exhibit is sure to be wildly popular. You can prep yourself before visiting by downloading the audio tour hosted by the exhibit curators. There are also a number of events around town in the coming months that celebrate the artist and his works.
The exhibit will be in Seattle through January 17, 2011, after which it heads to Virginia and San Francisco.
