Northwest African American Museum

Seattle’s newest museum, the Northwest African American Museum, opened in 2008 and is dedicated to the unique historical and cultural experiences of African Americans in Seattle and the Pacific Northwest. Exhibits highlight how African Americans arrived in the Northwest to build lives and communities, and feature early pioneers, community leaders and unsung heroes of the community.

The museum is open Wednesday through Sunday, and you can visit for free on the first and second Thursday of every month. It is located in the old Colman School building, just south of downtown Seattle.
