If your idea of a good movie includes the words “foreign,” “independent,” “rare” and “classic,” then I hope you know about Seattle’s Grand Illusion Cinema, located in the U-District. If however, you haven’t heard of this little gem, now’s the time to perk up your ears. Here’s what you need to know: the Grand Illusion is Seattle’s longest running, independent, non-profit movie theater.
Run by a truly committed group of staff and volunteers, the Grand Illusion has been providing superb and unique entertainment to film enthusiasts since it opened its doors in 1968. The theater itself is cozy, only seating 70 people, but the experience it provides to many is truly from another time. You can even become a member in support of the non-profit and enjoy some great perks! Or, if you’re looking for a novel way to throw a party, you can rent out the theater, too.
See you at the movies! Popcorn anyone?
