Not to be outdone by downtown Seattle’s tree-lighting ceremony, one family in West Seattle has their own holiday light display that one-ups all of the neighbors.
You may be planning to get your holiday lights up early this year, but I’m guessing that you didn’t spend months of planning and preparation for it like Jim Winder did for the lights on his neighbor’s house. West Seattle Lights, also known as the Helmstetler Family Holiday Spectacular, synchronizes thousands of LED lights to a soundtrack that is actually broadcast on 101.9 FM! (video from last year below)
The show is in its third year, and raises the light count from 40,000 last year to 60,000 lights in 2011 on this modest West Seattle abode. The synchronized light shows run every evening from November 26-December 31, 2011, with a special lighting ceremony at 7PM on November 26.
The home is at 3908 SW Charlestown, right across from the water tower. Be sure to check the schedule before heading over. The show also collects donations for two local charities, either cash or food, so please show your generosity if you visit the show.
