Located in the heart of Volunteer Park on Seattle’s Capitol Hill, the Seattle Asian Art Museum houses noteworthy collections of Japanese, Chinese, Korean and Southeast Asian art. If large statues of Buddha, delicate Japanese wall hangings and intricate jade carvings are your thing, then this museum is the place to be. The museum’s Japanese collection is considered to be one of the best in the US.
The building itself is a notable 1930’s art modern building that originally housed the Seattle Art Museum’s main collection, until it was moved downtown in the 90’s. At that time, the building was dedicated to the museum’s Asian art collections.
