There’s really too much going on at Seafair to count it as just one cool thing to do in Seattle. We’ll start with Fleet Week, (which, to be honest, started on August 4th), because it’s really kind of the beginning of all the action.
Fleet Week is when U.S. Navy, U.S. Coast Guard, and Canadian Navy ships enter Elliot Bay, sparking a sort of water parade. The sailors walk the plank (so to speak), and for the rest of the weekend the public is welcome to come aboard for tours of the ships.
Just try and say you don’t want a closer look at that ship. Can’t do it, can you? Well, here are the dates, times and places you can partake in a free tour. (Thanks to Kiro News for the info!)
Terminal 25: USS Green Bay, an amphibious transport dock ship
Pier 46: USS Port Royal, a guided missile cruiser
Pier 66: USS Kidd, a destroyer
Thursday August 5 – Saturday August 7, 9:30 am to 3:30 pm.
Sunday August 8, 12:00 pm to 3:30 pm
