I think by now, most Seattle-ites are familiar with neighborhood block parties. Now the city is offering a new program called Play Streets. By submitting an application for a free permit, you can temporarily close any non-arterial street and turn it into a playground! Play streets provide more space for kids and adults to play and be physically active. Think awesome relay races, bike riding, or a giant hopscotch board.
You can find out more information here. This pilot program runs through May 2015. Based on feedback and success hopefully we can keep this program around for years to come!
