Sandwich connoisseurs beware, Paseo’s Cuban roast sandwich will bring out your obsessive tendencies. Loaded with pork, onions, lettuce, jalapenos, garlic and mayo on a crispy baguette roll, this sloppy mess has many Seattleites addicted. Some may even say that Paseo’s pork-goodness turns the uninitiated into raving lunatics! It’s even been getting TV coverage lately, with TLC’s “Best Food Ever” calling it the second best sandwich in America.
Paseo’s original location in Fremont is not much more than a tin shack with a handful of tables in front. Expect to see long lines of people out the door, and if you get there later in the day they do sell out of bread or other popular menu items. The regulars will call ahead and make sure they still have their favorite items before making the trek. It can be hard to get a seat, so you might end up carrying out instead. They have a second location that was more recently opened in Ballard that has fewer lines and some outdoor seating, so that it a great alternative.
