It’s Octopus Week at the Seattle Aquarium! All week long they will be celebrating this eight-armed invertebrate – particularly the Giant Pacific Octopus found in Puget Sound. Did you know that Octopuses are known to be highly intelligent (they display signs of a short and long term memory) and they have amazing abilities to camouflage themselves?
Highlights of Octopus Week include:
- Live octopus release on Saturday, February 25 at Noon … watch live video feed as biologists escort an octopus to a new home beneath the Aquarium pier
- Divers will swim with an octopus on February 19, 20, 24 and 26 at noon in the Window on Washington Waters exhibit – get an up-close view of an octopus and find out more about this iconic Puget Sound animal
- Octopus weigh-ins & a squid dissection
