Seattle’s latest cool thing to do is Lake Union Park, a brand-new park that just opened today on the southern shore of Lake Union. The gem of a park just north of downtown, provides a relaxing place to enjoy the lake right in the middle of the city. The new park includes a model boat pond, a beach area for launching your kayaks or paddle boards, walking trails and an interactive water fountain. Lake Union Park is also home to the Center for Wooden Boats, a historic ships wharf, and will soon also house the Museum of History and Industry and a Northwest Native Canoe Center.
Today (Sept 25, 2010) is the grand opening celebration of the park from dusk to dawn, with musical performances, model boat races, a salmon barbeque and more! Stop by and check out the newest park in Seattle!
