We posted earlier that Labor Day weekend in Seattle means the Bumbershoot Music & Arts Festival. Another annual Seattle tradition is a 3-day concert by the Dave Matthews Band at the Gorge Amphitheatre. (Dave Matthews is actually a long-time Seattle resident.) If you are a Dave Matthews fan, this would be a great year to check him out, as word on the street is that the band is going to take next year off from their annual Gorge shows.
The Gorge Amphitheatre is not in Seattle, and in fact is 150 miles east of the city in central Washington, so it is a bit of a drive. However, there is a reason that the Gorge is Seattle’s favorite concert venue. The stage backs up to the Columbia River Gorge, so your favorite musical acts are backed up by some breathtaking scenery to match their music.
While it is a little bit of a drive to get there, it is a straight shot on I-90 through the mountains. Many concertgoers end up camping at the grounds to make a full weekend of it. Hands down, the Gorge is one of the best outdoor music venues in the country, so if Dave Matthews Band is not for you, check out a variety of other acts that play there throughout the summer.
