Brightening our local (and sometimes drab) scenery for over 40 years is the work of Dale Chihuly, Seattle-based glass artist. Now his pieces can be found on the scene at Seattle Center. The magnificent new glasshouse serves as center point for Chihuly Garden and Glass - a 40-foot tall steel and glass structure (4500 square feet of light-filled space) housing a 100-foot long sculpture in reds, oranges, and yellows. The surrounding gardens are beautiful, with pops of glass sculpture here and there. More works can be found in the exhibition hall, along with video shorts showing the glass blowing process. And don’t forget to stop by the Collections Cafe featuring some of his personal collections (vintage radios, cameras accordions) paired with fresh and local foods.
