April in the Northwest means tulips, and you can see hundreds of acres of them in bloom this month at the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival.
The tulips and daffodils bloom on their own schedule, with the daffodils in bloom now. The tulips have just started to bloom in some fields according to their site, so everything should be in glorious form this week.
The fields cover a wide area around Mount Vernon and La Conner, so it helps to plan your trip with their map. The festival also has lots of special events throughout the month, like wine festivals and art shows, that you can check out on their calendar.
The Skagit Valley is about 60 miles north of Seattle, making it a perfect day trip.
